Join the PM Company with the largest footprint in Aotearoa. 14 Locations, and a talented team to work with . Perfect to learn, grow and upskill.
Our Tauranga-based Bay of Plenty team have a strong track record of delivery across regional projects and programmes of work including education, health, infrastructure, local government and commercial sectors. Due to growth, we’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to join us working on an interesting portfolio of work in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty region.
You’ll enjoy a busy pipeline of work, exposure to a wide range of project types. While you’ll have a truly local focus, you’ll be collaborating with our other Central North Island teams and be part of a much larger national business, where we put a strong emphasis on looking after our people and helping grow their careers.
Our vision is to be the best and most trusted project specialists in Aotearoa. Whether you’re already a local looking for a fresh opportunity, or if you’re considering relocating to the region, we’d love to hear from you.
You Matter @ TBIG
You really do! We want you to enjoy your working day and the teams around you. We want to put opportunities in your way, not roadblocks, and we’ll show we trust and support your instincts to lead projects and collaborate.
While you’re working hard on your career, we’ll help with some of the smaller things – like decent coffee and snacks in the pantry, social events with your colleagues, and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. Fancy learning basic Te Reo? or maybe upskilling around advanced contract matters? Whatever your interest, we give you access and time to grow personally as well as professionally.
The Bay of Plenty region offers such great opportunities to work and play, and we encourage our team to have a balance of both.
The Role
As the senior eyes and ears across our projects, you’ll provide clear leadership, sound judgement, and trusted advice to clients. You’ll guide projects from early definition through to construction delivery, and you’ll play a key role in shaping and supporting our growing PM team.
A significant portion of your initial workload will involve live construction projects, so we’re looking for someone who is confident on site, strong in contract administration, and able to navigate complex issues with clarity and authority.
Here’s what we need from you:
A reputation as the “safe pair of hands” who owns project outcomes and keeps delivery on track.
A professional presence that earns the respect and confidence of clients, contractors, and colleagues.
The ability to communicate with influence — you build trust quickly and maintain strong relationships.
A leadership style that is visible, supportive, and sets the tone for a positive team culture.
A willingness to mentor and empower the next generation of project managers.
Your experience needs to include:
8+ years’ previous Project/construction management experience, including time in a consultant Project Manager role.
Strong contract administration capability, including preparing robust contract documentation, drafting correspondence, and managing construction‑phase processes.
Demonstrable experience with NZS3910 and/or NZS3916, ideally acting as Engineer’s Representative or Contract Administrator.
Proven ability to structure contracts, manage variations, assess claims, and maintain disciplined project controls.
Experience across multiple project types and phases — from design management through to construction delivery and handover.
Strong leadership coordinating design teams and overseeing contractors on site.
The confidence to challenge assumptions, resolve issues, and provide pragmatic, well‑reasoned solutions.
Solid understanding of New Zealand building regulations, procurement processes, and health and safety obligations.
A portfolio that may include commercial, education, health, fitout, or civil infrastructure projects within the NZ market.
