Project Manager
Join the PM company with the largest footprint in Aotearoa. 13 offices, and a talented team to work with. Perfect to learn, grow and upskill.
Our Queenstown based team have strong personal and project connections in the community, and a depth of experience across a range of local projects including education, commercial and community facilities. We have delivered several cornerstone projects in the region, with exciting future project opportunities.
If you’re looking for a change this year and a great place to grow your career, we can help accelerate it with the support of an enthusiastic manager who will invest in your coaching and development. You’ll be part of a small local team with the backing of a much larger national business, where we put a strong emphasis on looking after our people and helping grow their careers.
As a PM, you’ll get your hands on a great range of project opportunities and the chance to work with multiple teams. Our local projects are varied and interesting – no two are ever the same. You’ll get to experience projects in different phases, managing everything from design to construction and getting a project to the finish line - that magic day when people walk into their new building or tamariki see their new school for the first time.
You Matter @ TBIG
You really do! We want you to enjoy your working day and the teams around you. We want to put opportunities in your way, not roadblocks, and we’ll show we trust and support your instincts to lead projects and collaborate.
You’ll get a great salary package but there’s more to a rewarding job than that. This is a rare opportunity for a professional services job in Queenstown. The big things include a longer-term chance at becoming one of our employee shareholders, our support of flexible working, and we will continue your professional journey with networking, industry memberships and training opportunities. We’ll help with some of the smaller things too – like fun social events with your colleagues, and company health and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. Fancy learning basic Te Reo or upskilling around Te Tiriti o Waitangi? We give you access and time to grow personally as well as professionally. Queenstown is an incredibly appealing place to work and play, and we encourage our team to have a balance of both.
The Role
No two days are the same, and that’s what gets our PM’s excited. You’ll be encouraged to lead, and supported in that leadership as you make project decisions.
- You’ll lead and chair meetings, minuting actions so nothing gets left undone.
- You’ll build trust with all stakeholders and everyone in the project team.
- Procure the right consultants that are going to perform well on the project.
- Guide a project from go to whoa, from the initial project set up to final delivery, and everything else in between.
- Keep a firm grip on cost control – you’ll be right on top of financial reporting, estimates, cash flow and invoicing on a project.
- Manage the team’s deliverables and reporting back to client.
- You’ll be a solution-finder, able to think laterally about construction and design problems.
Here’s what we need from you:
- A professional and can-do attitude to helping support our clients and the TBIG project team.
- Create enthusiasm within the project environment. Getting buy in and always building trust.
- A range of experience across different project types and phases, including exposure to design management and contract management.
- An affinity for working collaboratively and collectively with project teams, working towards the same goals and reminding people of those goals when the project gets challenging.
- Great communication skills and the desire to represent our brand professionally, as part of a small regional team.
- Strong administrative skills that lend themselves to an organised and efficient project manager.
Your experience needs to include:
- Minimum three years' post grad consultancy experience, construction PM or similar.
- Relevant qualifications such as Building Science, Architecture, Construction PM, Engineering or Property.
- You’ll bring a range of project experience with you, which may include accommodation sector/hotel work, school or tertiary education projects, or possibly civil infrastructure project delivery.
