Project Director
Eyeing new challenges to lead and make a difference? Are you ambitious and looking to make your mark?
With growth across our Central North Island Business unit, we’re now looking for someone local to take the reins in the Bay of Plenty.
You’ll be a hands-on leader who can drive business growth, lead a high-performing team, and continue building on our strong record of performance locally.
With an established footprint and impressive portfolio of projects, this is a great time to take on this key role as Project Director leading our team from our Tauranga office.
This is a senior position where you’ll play a key role in our Central SLT, working closely with your peers and the Business Manager to help shape the direction of the region.
While you’ll be leading local projects and people, you’ll also be encouraged to get out, build connections, and grow the business. You’ll have a real say in how we roll out our strategy, and be excited by the opportunity to grow our offering across the wider Bay of Plenty region.
You Matter @ TBIG
At this point in your career, you’re looking for job satisfaction and keen to make a difference. You’ll get a great salary package of course, but the rewards for you are about the big picture - having a hand in our growth and our reputation. You’ll be on the road to earning an invitation to become an employee shareholder, and we’ll support you to be a thought leader in our industry.
We will back your success. If you have a particular niche you want to pursue or great ideas to improve the business, your ideas are welcome. We offer flexibility to balance your personal/family/life commitments and the tools to work remotely as needed.
TBIG will support your professional and personal development including leadership training and other specialist knowledge upskilling.
While you’re building the team around you, we’ll get some of the smaller things right, so your team are well charged and feeling confident – like fun social events, a well-stocked pantry and decent espresso coffee machine, as well as company health and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. We’ll help you support the development of your team through our bespoke inhouse “MyPath” training programmes.
The Role
Our vision is to be the best and most trusted project specialists in Aotearoa. We expect our senior leaders to be key leaders not just locally but within the wider business, influencing great outcomes in all ways. With challenge comes reward, and you’ll be backed to speak up, lead and drive best practice. We relish being market leaders and we want your enthusiasm and expertise at the table.
While we have an excellent established client base, we expect you’ll also be well connected locally and ready to dive into networking as a TBIG brand ambassador. You’ll get involved as part of the local business community to support further growth in our client base across Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty region.
As a Project Director you’ll continue to interface with key clients and stakeholders, being hands-on in the delivery of major projects. You’ll be supported by a high calibre team of Project Managers and enjoy having the opportunity to give back through coaching and mentoring the next generation of talent.
You’ll be able to demonstrate:
- Project/Construction management experience of 10+ years, some of this must be within a Consultancy environment
- An aptitude for networking and winning new work
- Experience in project delivery across a diverse portfolio, ideally including base build, commercial development and fitout projects. Or, perhaps you can add something else to the mix?
- A tertiary level qualification within a relevant field such as construction, civil or property
- An affinity for leading teams and passion to support your team’s career development
- Detailed knowledge and the preparation of robust contract documents, correspondence and reporting. Experience with NZS39XX contracts and the role of ETC / Engineer’s Representative.
- Strong understanding of relevant New Zealand building regulations and legislation and a strong focus on health and safety
- Strong business acumen
