Project Manager
There’s lots happening in the Southland region, and our team continues to deliver in this busy local economy!
- Join a highly experienced local team, fast track your growth
- Structured career development training programme
- Partner with great local clients on significant projects
Our Invercargill based team have strong personal and project connections in the community, and a depth of experience across a range of local projects including education, commercial and infrastructure to name a few. We continue to deliver on a wide range of significant local projects, and we’re looking for a high performing Project Manager to join us.
At TBIG, we’re committed to the regions, providing strong connections and support across our network of offices. Our vision is to be the best and most trusted project specialists in Aotearoa.
You might be a local looking for a change, or perhaps the outdoor lifestyle and proximity to Queenstown are calling and you’re considering relocation? Invercargill is growing and modernising, and with a fresh new town centre, affordable housing, quality schooling and lots of development happening it's an excellent time to be part of the action.
As a PM, you’ll get your hands on a great range of project opportunities and the chance to work with multiple teams. You’ll get to experience projects in different phases, managing everything from design to construction and getting a project to the finish line - that magic day when people walk into their new building or tamariki see their new school for the first time.
You Matter @ TBIG
You really do! We want you to enjoy your working day and the teams around you. We’ll support your career development through our MyPath programme, which provides a planned pathway to grow your experience, and supports your journey towards a more senior role.
You’ll get a great salary package but there’s more to a rewarding job than that. This is a rare opportunity for a professional services job in Invercargill. The big things include a longer-term chance at becoming one of our employee shareholders, our support of flexible working, and we will continue your professional journey with networking, industry memberships and training opportunities. We’ll help with some of the smaller things too – like fun social events with your colleagues, and company health and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. Fancy learning basic Te Reo or upskilling around Te Tiriti o Waitangi? We give you access and time to grow personally as well as professionally. The Southland region offers such great opportunities to work and play, and we encourage our team to have a balance of both.
The Role
No two days are the same, and that’s what gets our PM’s excited. You’ll be encouraged to lead, and supported in that leadership as you make project decisions.
- You’ll build trust with all stakeholders and everyone in the project team.
- Prepare and implement project execution plans, communications and engagement plans, procurement plans etc. ensuring the appropriate controls and tolerances are in place for all projects.
- Form strong project teams including design engineers, quantity surveyors, planners etc. from Southland and around the country.
- Guide a project from go to whoa, from the initial project set up to contract administration, final delivery, and everything else in between.
- Keep a firm grip on cost control alongside the project quantity surveyor – you’ll be right on top of financial reporting, estimates, cash flow and invoicing on a project.
- Manage project deliverables and reporting back to client.
- You’ll lead and chair meetings, minuting actions so nothing gets left undone.
Here’s what we need from you:
- A professional and can-do attitude to helping support our clients and the TBIG project team.
- Create enthusiasm within the project environment. Getting buy in and always building trust.
- A range of experience across different project types and phases, including exposure to design management and contract management. This would ideally include base build, commercial development or civil projects in the NZ market.
- An affinity for working collaboratively and collectively with project teams, working towards the same goals and reminding people of those goals when the project gets challenging.
- Great communication skills and the desire to represent our brand professionally, as part of a small regional team.
- Strong administrative skills that lend themselves to an organised and efficient project manager.
Your experience needs to include:
- Minimum three years' post grad consultancy experience, construction PM or similar.
- Relevant qualifications such as Building Science, Architecture, Construction PM, Engineering or Property.
- You’ll bring a growing range of project experience with you, which should include vertical projects such as commercial, education or fitout projects, and could also include civil infrastructure project delivery.
