Project Manager
Join the PM company with the largest footprint in Aotearoa. 14 locations, and a talented team to work with. Perfect to learn, grow and upskill.
Our team in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) is embedded in the community, with long-standing relationships and a track record of delivering some of the region’s most significant projects, such as Victoria University’s Ngā Mokopuna (formerly the Living Pā) and Southern Cross Hospital in Newtown.
The Greater Wellington team is built around a fun and supportive environment. We have a fantastic mix of experience and emerging talent in the team, and we’ve created a culture where learning is shared and encouraged. We’re committed to everyone’s growth so we can succeed as one team. All this happens at our Lambton Quay office, a modern and welcoming space designed with our team’s needs in mind.
Right now, we’re busy working on a diverse portfolio of work, including, tertiary and secondary education, justice, science, commercial fit out and 3 waters infrastructure upgrades that will help shape the future of the region.
As a PM, you’ll get your hands on a great range of project opportunities and the chance to work with multiple teams. You’ll get to experience projects in different phases, managing everything from design to construction and getting a project to the finish line - that magic day when people walk into their new building or tamariki see their new school for the first time. Our vision is to be the best and most trusted project specialists in Aotearoa.
Whether you’re a local looking for a fresh opportunity, or if you’re relocating to Wellington, we’d love to talk to you about this role.
You Matter @ TBIG
You really do! We want you to enjoy your working day and the teams around you. We want to put opportunities in your way, not roadblocks, and we’ll show we trust and support your instincts to lead projects and collaborate.
While you're working hard on your career, we'll help with some of the smaller things - like decent coffee and snacks in the pantry, social events with your colleagues, and well-being initiatives such as our Spring Challenge. Fancy learning basic Te Reo? Or maybe upskilling around advanced contract matters? Whatever your interest, we give you access and time to grow personally as well as professionally.
And, if you’re looking for more balance, we can offer that too – we provide flexibility so you can enjoy a great professional role alongside your other commitments.
The Role
No two days are the same, and that’s what gets our PM’s excited. You’ll be encouraged to lead, and supported in that leadership as you make project decisions.
Guide a project from go to whoa, from the initial project set up to final delivery, and everything else in between.
Deliver positive project outcomes for our clients and communities
Help develop project strategies that achieve the right results
You’ll build trust with all stakeholders and everyone in the project team.
Procure the right consultants and contractors that are going to perform well on the project.
You’ll lead and chair meetings, minuting actions so nothing gets left undone.
Prepare and manage programmes to ensure works are undertaken in logical and efficient sequence.
Keep a firm grip on cost control – you’ll be right on top of financial reporting, estimates, cash flow and invoicing on a project.
You’ll facilitate the flow of information between the client, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders, to keep the project team working smoothly.
Manage the team’s deliverables and reporting back to client.
Here’s what we need from you:
A professional and can-do attitude to helping support our clients and the TBIG project team.
Create enthusiasm within the project environment. Getting buy in and always building trust.
A range of experience across different project types and phases, including design and construction phase management.
An affinity for working collaboratively and collectively with project teams, working towards the same goals and reminding people of those goals when the project gets challenging.
Great communication skills – you’re a good talker, but an even better listener.
Your experience needs to include:
Minimum four years' post grad consultancy experience, construction PM or similar.
Relevant qualifications such as Building Science, Architecture, Construction PM, Engineering or Property.
You’ll bring a growing range of project experience with you, which could include, education, health, justice, commercial, fit-out or infrastructure projects.
